The tournament will be played at the Las Vegas Ice Center Twin Ponds (9295 W Flamingo Rd Las Vegas, NV 89147) so I will need the Hotel to me around there.
Anyone know of a good cheap hotel?

When I stayed in Vegas I stayed downtown by the jail away from the strip. The further away from the strip the cheaper the hotel. I stayed at the Rainbow. But that was almost 20 years ago

Unfortunately the cheapest and the closest have a big difference. The closest are hotel/motels without gaming. That means the rooms are higher priced. The lower prices will be at a casino that will offer the room way cheaper because they will make up the money in the casino.
The closest is Executive Suites on W, Flamingo
also there is a Hampton Inn on S. Grand Canyon Road.
The Cheapest would be the Gold Coast Casino on W. Flamingo.

The Gold Coast is on West Flamingo and it’s usually one of the least expensive hotels in Las Vegas.
You could take the #201 W Flamingo on out to the Ice Center
$2.50 for a 24 hour CAT bus pass
~Jack~
Later: I checked your dates on Hotels.com the Gold Coast was $105 per night(avg) - You could save $150 per room if you stayed at the Fiesta Henderson($55 per night)
The Fiesta would be further away, but it’s right on I-215 which means you could hop right on the hwy and avoid driving Flamingo with all of it’s traffic/lights.
Fiesta Henderson - Very reasonable priced buffet - meal deals & food court - Heated Pool - Movie theater - nice rooms - They even have one of the nicest, most convenient parking garages, so you would not have to park out in the weather or a long walk from the hotel.
This is probably not going to be the most convenient hotel to the ice center, but it was(IMO) a very good value at a very nice hotel. If your team is playing one game per day, then it might make sense if it’s the kind of tournament where they may be playing 2 or 3 times in one day then it probably would not make sense to travel back and forth.

Create a video blog…instantly.
That is miles from the main hotel casino district BUT check out for ideas
The closest place I can think of is the Gold Coast but still aboaut six miles away.
Where you are going is about West Flamingo near Fort Apache. There are no hotels that closed
But jump on 215 and you could go west to Red Rock Resorts
The tournament should help you find rooms though

Hi to one Hockey Parent from a former Hockey Parent.
I used to plan the lodging for our teams travel games. The lodging changed with the players ages. You didn’t state the age of the players.
Let’s give you a few ideas.
If its Mites - High School you MUST have a pool for the down time after the last game of the day of course. But the issue is in Feb. there aren’t many pools open so your then looking for other activity to burn off the energy they didn’t leave on the ice.
Gold Coast would most likely be the best for price. There is also a bowling alley. Across the street is the Palms. NOPE Palms is not cheap but they have a multi-screen theater. Gold Coast is only about 1 mile North of Orleans where the Las Vegas Wranglers play but Orleans is closer to the rink because of the beltway It appears the Wrangler team is playing in Idaho while your in LV
.
The Orleans has larger nicer rooms but not for sure of the down time activities. Remember these are casinos also and the parents MUST not let the kids wonder around at will.
Be sure to ask for group sales but STRESS that it is NOT a convention and the parents will have a lot of down time and LOVE playing at casinos. (whether you do or not)
LV casinos are really down now and are looking to draw people in.
There is a Hampton Inn on S. Canyon Rd. that’s only about 1 mile from the rink but rooms average $100 per night.
Orleans - 5.25 miles
GC - 5.6 miles
Also if smoking is an issue, Hampton is non-smoking. If you reserve a smoking or non-smoking in a casino it’s usually “upon availability.
