I will be going to Washington DC in july, staying at Hawthorn Suites in Alexandria, any reviews on this hotels and nearby places to eat and clubs to go near by. I will be going with my bf and want to spend a super time there, one weekend in VA and a week in Maryland, I don’t want to miss anything, please tell me some things I shouldn’t miss, what to do, where to hang out, best food, best malls, what climate to expect etc… Any info will be greatly appreciated.

One thing that you have to do is go down to the mall. We have few new museums that are cool. The Crime and Punishments is fun. They have paddle boats which is fun. You two could picnic there under the cherry blossom trees.
Expect it to be hot and muggy. It will probably rain too.
Good advice if you take the metro stay to the right!
In Maryland they have built a new harbor (the National Harbor) it is beautiful.
DC has no malls per say. But Pentagon City is in Alexandria and it has its own metro stop not to far from your hotel.

In DC, there is a clock tower which has a nice food court and an elevator that can be ridden to the top (nice view). The museums and monuments there are also neat to check out.

Definitely visit Old Town Alexandria. Take the metro to the King Street Station (one stop north on the blue line). There are plenty of good restaurants and bars along King Street. Go to Capitol Hill in DC and visit the Eastern Market (the Eastern Market stop on the blue/orange line). Definitely see the museums and check out some of the monuments - DC is a really cool place. If you want to party go to Adams Morgan (young 20’s crowd) or Clarendon (older 20’s early 30’s). One of my favorite bars is in Clarendon called 11th street. They have a great happy hour. So does Cafe Asia if you like sushi. Rays the Steaks is the best steak joint you’ll ever visit - they don’t take reservations so go early or late - during the week is your best bet. You could go to Baltimore, MD to the inner harbor - about an hour from DC and definitely have some blue crab!! There is a cool market around the inner harbor called Lexington Market. They have the freshest seafood and raw bar in the back of the market. I recommend getting a metro pass and checking out VA/DC. If so, you’ll be walking a lot and it will be hot and muggy. Just be careful at night and know where you’re going. Enjoy!
