To anyone familiar with Washington State Laws. re: soliciting?
Hotel RatesMistiqual_V asked:
My friend got some smokes at a gas station and was getting into his car to leave when a woman approached his car window. She flirted with him and asked if he “was looking for company”. My friend said, “no thanks, i can get that on my own”. She said something like “if you change your mind, my hotel room number is..” blah blah blah… and my friend responded with “whatever”, and drove away. As soon as he drove around the corner he was surrounded by cops, drug out of his vehicle, handcuffed, and arrested for soliciting sex to an undercover police officer. They tore his mom’s car apart until they found a controlled substance and a firearm. He was arrested, held overnight, bailed out the next day. Oddly enough, the gun charge has already been dismissed, but they are still going to charge him with soliciting & the controlled substance. I’m thinking the controlled substance can be thrown out due to illegal search because he never solicited anything. Anyone have any advice on this case?

Here is the bottom line.
He is lying to you.
I have worked many, many, many reverse prostitution stings and that is NOT how they go down.
The ‘John’ approaches the female officer and they start a dialog. She will NEVER say anything like what you said. She responds only to what the suspect puts out first.
Example of the typical deal:
John pulls up and says “Hi, you dating”
Officer “Yes, what you have in mind”
From there the officer and the suspect discuss sex in exchange for money. The officer then tells the suspect to pull around the corner and she will walk to him. That’s when the officers pull in an yank him.
So, your friend is lying to you to cover his butt as he is embarrassed about attempting to solicit a prostitute.
This is also a guy that has drugs and a gun in his car. How can you figure a criminal like this, yes, he is just that, is going to tell you the truth about anything?
Don’t believe his lies. And, you really should find new friends. This guy is obviously bad news.
