Moving to another state and I need opinions?

It’s my first time moving and I needed some good opinions. I’m moving from Texas to Washington state. It’s 36 hours, 2500 miles. Is it better,price wise, for me to go ahead and let a company ship my car for $940,or will I come out cheaper driving?(Gas, hotels, food,other things I can’t think of)Also, whoever helps me drive, I would need to buy them a ticket back to Texas.
Oh, I have a two month old that does not like the car ride but willing to deal with it if I come out cheaper
To further clarify he screams the whole time for a 5 min car ride or any car ride along Houston.The most he’s gone is an hour.Has anyone handled a baby that young and driving far distances like that cuz he’s a handful for those rides.(He gets so upset I have to stop at least twice to calm him cuz he has stopped breathing more than once when I let him “cry it out” so whatever to that.

Edit: Well that changes everything if you have a young child…36 hours is wayyyyy to long for them to be on the road I think. I say ship the car, and fly to Washington. Will be much easier on the mind for you. This way though at least you still will avoid the cost of having to pay for another hotel room for your friend and gas costs. Good luck on the move!!

Let them ship it. You’ll spend a lot more on gas and probably hotel stays. I did when I drove from California to Massachusettes, but I wanted to see the country. You can get it shipped cheaper. Try calling this place. It’s called DAS(Dependable Auto Shippers). They gave us great rates. Almost half the price you’re shipping per car. Just make sure that you do it 3-4 weeks before you leave so that you’ll have it when you arrive there. Talk to them to make sure how long exactly. Well, here’s the info again:

If you are doing this move solo, you need to ask yourself if you can spend 8 to 10 hours in a car by yourself driving on roads that are unknown to you. Do you also have to pay for your flight to Washington as well as pay for shipping your car? Depending on how much gas milage your car gets with a full tank of gas will determine on how much you spend. If you get 25-35 miles per gallon, then divide the 2500 miles by 30-that will tell you approximately how much gas (in gallons) you’ll use. Then, multiply that number by the per gallon dollar amount (use the higher dollar figure, since gas prices can fluctuate from city to city and from state to state.) Then, calculate hotel or motel rooms. It will probably take you 4 to 6 days, depending on traffic and your level of tiredness. Can you live without luxury? If so, you can get hotel or motel rooms for about $35-$50 per night. Do you have AAA coverage? This can be useful for two reasons: just in case you have car problems along the way, and, you can sometimes get discounts for hotel rooms. As far as food goes, it depends again on your choices. Most areas near the interstate highways have diners, fast-food restaurants, and vending machines at rest stops. If you stop at diners, you need to figure in tips. An average meal can run from $4-$5 up to $10-$15. If you have someone else with you, and you are paying the entire costs, then everything but the gasoline costs will be double (hotel/motel, food, beverages, etc). You would also have to calculate the airline ticket for this person in addition to the costs of having this person on the road with you. If you have the money to pay for you car to be shipped, and money to fly one-way to Washington, it probably wouldn’t neccessarily be cheaper, but it would be a lot less of a hassel and you wouldn’t have to worry about traffic, break downs, being alone (if you opt to drive by yourself) in unknown areas, or even being in a car for 2500 miles with another person!
