How much should you tip the driver of a complimentary hotel shuttle?

Our family has recently stayed at two different hotels and utilized their free shuttle several times. We would take the shuttle to the train station/airport to catch public transportation in the morning and then use it to return to the hotel in the afternoon. We feel we should tip the driver something (and we did) but we are unsure about what is customary.

a couple of bucks per trip (depending how many he is taking
..it just depends how many he/she takes..
if you get the same driver a bit more not to sure what is right it also depends how they drive..
if you get the same driver most of the time you can leave one big tip for a job well done

5-10 dollars is what i did
everytime i went but it all depends on the service and how polite she/he is!
