How many days before I arrive at a hotel should I call to request a specific room?

It’s the vacation season. You should request the specific room you want as soon as you are sure you will be traveling.

Call Well in advance otherwise the room may be booked . If I were you I’d ask for that specific room the day you make the reservation and if you have already made the reservation call NOW.

Requesting a specific room does not guarantee you will get it.

You can call anytime to “request” a specific room and they will add that “request” to your rervation but be aware that it will only be a note added to your reservation and unless you are a VIP or part of a block of rooms hotels generally cant honor requests other than for room type, bed type, and smoking preference.

I have heard that this is your best bet. Keep in mind, though, that no requests are guaranteed! When you make your reservation, you can ask them to note your room preference. Then, a week to 10 days before your trip, you can fax them a written copy of your request. Then you can call a day or two ahead and make sure they have it. And when you arrive, remind them that you had a request and ask if they would be able to fulfill it.

It is usually recommended that you place your request as soon as you make your reservation.
I work in the Hotel industry and have noticed that many guests seem to think that when they REQUEST a room they are going to get that room. Please keep in mind that it is nothing more then a REQUEST, it is not guaranteed whatsover. You should not arrive at the hotel fully expecting that specific room and especially not take it personally. The only guarantee is the room itself, smoking preference, and most often room type.
Have Fun!

Weeks in advance, not days if you’re requesting a special room.
