Best place to stay in or outside of DC for inauguration ?

Me and my family want to go to Washington DC to see Obama get sworn in and of course there are no hotels available in DC so where else can we stay that’s pretty close and still be safe and fairly inexpensive?

Greenbelt Maryland. The Marriott there offers a shuttle to and from the Metro for free. I think it runs once every hour. The Metro is actually within walking distance if you wanted to go that route, but it gets cold so I would just take the free shuttle or call a cab. Depending on the business at the time you could get a room rate of about $230/ night. Check their website for the current rate quote and to book the room. There are several other hotels in that area so you could check them as well.

There are still hotels in the area with availability — but not much. Many have (at least) 3 night minimum stay policies in effect for that period, so you’ll have more choices if you extend your stay, and if you consider staying in an area around DC (Virginia, Maryland, etc.).
You can do a quote here that includes all surrounding areas:
Good luck!

Anywhere that’s close to a Metro station will work.
