Why is a hotel price on Yahoo different from the actual price?

I searched for a hotel in Chicago and found the Fisher Building for $29.00 a night. But when I checked the availability to make a reservation, the minimum cost was $199 a night!!

There’s no regulation. You can check 10 different sites and get 10 different prices.
$29.00— that’s low! Could someone have made a typo in the advertisement?

I think it is a ploy to hook you in. A couple of years ago, I wanted to go on holiday. Kept finding “1 week, only £99.00″. Took the phone number off the internet and the actual price of the holiday was £250 - a slight difference! I asked how come the two prices were so vastly different. I was fed some bo***cks about the price they advertised did not take into account any further charges the holiday complex might add. I got a cheap holiday by booking one from a newspaper which actually had the real price of the holiday.
It may well be that for your $29 a night, you have to live there for a couple of years to get that discount!
