The Jersey Shore?
Hotel PricesBrooklynChk asked:
People are always going away to the Jersey Shore. A few questions -
1. I live in New York City - can I get there on a BUS? how far is it?
2. Where do people stay there - are there reasonably prices hotels/motels in the area right by the beach or you only have to stay if you know people who have houses.

It depends where you want to go. There are a number of towns which you can reach via NJ Transit train. There are others you need to use NJ Transit busses.
Hotels will be somewhat on the excessive side as far as cost, and you will probably need to have reservations ahead of time. Again, it depends where you want to go and how much you want to spend.

Yes, you can take a bus or train from the city right into Point Pleasant Beach. I don’t know exactly where you are looking to stay though, but you can check the stops for buses and trains at NJTransit.com - It might take you about 2 hours give or take, because of the other stops. There are a ton, and I mean a ton of hotels around. Some real crappy “motels” and some are very nice. Of course, you get what you pay for. You can get a motel for $50/night or pay $200/night for a nice hotel room. If you stay a little further from the beach, you won’t pay as much. Any other questions, feel free to email me! Have fun if you end up coming this way!

I am sure you cant get a bus there…Point pleasant beach is nice…there are so many coastal towns to hang out in….Seaside, LBI, Belmar..etc.. and to answer your questions, its mostly beach hotel/motel type places, nothing fancy….they are all reall beachy towns…

I think you can take the ferry to sandy hook. I’m not positive though. There are plenty of hotels and they can get quite pricy over the summer! Enjoy your stay

The hotels are fairly pricey in the summer. The closer you are to the beach, the more expensive the hotels are. I would guess that there isn’t a bus, but it all depends on how far you go down the shore, because you could probably get one for the north shore but not the south.
