Hotel Pricesmeg6070 asked:
I’m looking into going to NYC in april, but everywhere I look hotels are either gross and I won’t stay there or they are $600 a night for a regular place…
I really want to go, but not with prices like this

I just did a search on Hotels.com and found many nice hotels for under $200 - some perfectly convent, safe and clean as low as $150. For example:
Milford Plaza
Radisson Lexington Hotel
Hotel Belleclaire
Even the Paramount which is cool and in Times Square.
Come visit - none of these places are dumps and you won’t spend much time in your room anyway.

the courtyard by marriott at times square south costs about $200.00–please note that there are several courtyard hotels in NY.
if you can spend more, the blakely is the best–close to shopping at 5th avenue, museums, and central park…runs about $ 290.00+TAX.
you may also want to try craig’s list ny for apartments or rooms for short term rental.

I was worried about this as well when I visited NY last year with my boyfriend. We booked into a Holiday Inn. Let me tell you that in the four days we were there, we only went into the hotel room to pass out and maybe for an hour during the day to take a nap. We were never in the room.
Why don’t you try La Quinta Inn Manhattan? With the AAA discount, it is $161 a night and is right behind Time Square. I have it booked for March.
Also, another suggestion is to reserve a room that you won’t pay for until after you check out. Then get on Travelocity (IMO, the cheapest online website) about three days before your trip. You will be amazed at the number of four star hotels that will be in the $140s. I intend on checking travelocity two days before I leave and booking the Hilton Garden Inn. If it works, then I can stay there for $140 a night. If it doesn’t then well at least I have a room already reserved.
