Need a relatively close and reasonably priced hotel near Yankee Stadium?
Hotel PricesJozie asked:
I’d like to find a decently priced hotel that is within a few miles of Yankee Stadium but that is also not in a “ghetto” kind of neighborhood and that is easily accessible to get to all the other attractions in NYC. Any ideas?

I work near yankee stadium and i don’t think i’ve ever seen a hotel that i would want to stay in. I say your best bet is to stay on either the upper east side or upper west side of manhatten. You can always take subway from there to yankee stadium and will be much closer to NY apartments. Try looking up NY hostels. I would recommend staying below 96th st on either the east or west side.

personnally id use priceline or similar. they can get you close to the attraction and compare the prices. thats what i did for my trip to DC for the Sabres game on April 7th, half mile away from the arena.

stay in Manhattan or Westchester The area of the Bronx around Yankee Stadium is OK during and after games but then LEAVE!!! its a bad neighborhood

The entire area around Yankee Stadium is a ghetto neighborhood. The South Bronx is disgusting. I don’t even think there are any hotels in that area, except for the kind where you pay by the hour.

There is nothing in the YS area. Stay in mid or downtown & take the train to YS.

This may not be near Yankee Stadium, but it is next to the subway (if you don’t want to hear the noise then forget it.) There is a Howard Johnson’s on the intersection of Boston Road and E. Tremont Avenue. It IS in the South Bronx, and face it…anywhere near Yankee Stadium is “ghetto”. However, you can grab the “2″ or “5″ train, change at 149th Street/Grand Concourse for the “4″ to Yankee Stadium. Nearby the hotel is The Bronx Zoo.
Long Island City (Queens) may not be as “ghetto” but there are parts of it that are just plain shady. There is a Days Inn (just built) right near the N, W & 7 trains at Queensboro Plaza. You can take one of the subways (preferably N or W) to get to Lexington Avenue (59th Street) and grab the “4″ from there to Yankee Stadium. Stay on the N or W and you can get right into the Manhattan sights.
