I became a member of choice hotels (comfort inn, comfort suites, quality inn, sleep inn, clarion, etc….) I go to the web site and get good room rates and they always are nice clean rooms, I also earn points so after about 10 rooms I get one free!

I’ve used several of those sites and have found that you can get better deals directly from the hotel websites. I usually look up rates at Yahoo Travel and choose 3 different hotel chains that meet my needs, then I go to their websites. If you have any type of discount (military, goverment, etc.) you can get those from the hotel websites where many of the other “bulk” sites don’t offer them. You can easily find them with a search, but I have added a few links for you.

There’s been a rush of online hotel booking sites the last few years, so you’re bound to find a good rate at some point in time.
has been around for a while. is a newer one I like alot.
Check — they fetch rates from lots of different sites and show you the cheapest.
