My wife & I are moving from Bangor, Maine to Trenton City, Missouri next month. It’s our 1st interstate trip, and having a hard time looking for cheap motels NEAR the interstae route (5 miles max range from the interstate highway). I searched Mapquest in places to stop, & planned to travel 400-500 miles a day. Im on a tight budget, my price rage for a motel/lodge is $50 max w/breakfast. Super 8, Days Inn are too expensive. Is there any travel ace out there that could help? means a lot to us. Thank you

Best Mackinaw City or St. Ignace Michigan motels?

james j asked:

What is the best deal for a Mackinaw City or St. Ignace motel with two beds in one room for this weekend (May 18, 19, 2007). The best answer will be from an area local or frequent traveler who can quote prices as listed on the street sign (in front of the motel), or a known coupon source (with online info). Please don’t send information on places over $50. a night. I know that good places exist in this area within this price range, I’d just like to know who has the best clean rooms with good service, best complimentary breakfasts, best views, in-room refrigerator., etc…
Do you know about this one:

I don’t travel much, but i am heading down to visit colleges tonight so i need to stay somewhere, if anyone has had experiences with any of these hotels and could give me a top 2 or 3 out of them, and maybe ones to avoid i would appreciate it. Any other info is appreciated, if you thought the price was fair, clean rooms, nice staff, etc.

Thanks so much!

how much should be charged per unit per day to maximize profit?

ello! asked:

You manage a 160 unit motel. All units will be occupied, on average, when you charge $50 per day per unit. Experience shows that for each $1 per day per unit that you increase the price, you will accrue 2 vacancies. Each occupied room costs $4 per day to clean and supply. On this basis, what price, in dollars, should you charge per unit per day to maximize your profit?

a. $87

b. $82

c. $77

d. $72

e. $67

f. $62

g. $57

h. none of these

Nashville and Memphis Trip in August?

Elizabeth S asked:

Hi all, my mother (50) and I (23) will be heading to Tennessee this summer for the first time. We’re flying into Nashville and out from Memphis a week later.

I would LOVE suggestions on where to stay or things we should DEFINITELY do. I’m looking for inexpensive (read: under $80 a night) hotels/motels that are decent and hopefully have a pool. I wouldn’t mind staying outside of the city for something special or a good price.

We want to avoid anything by the airport or anything just truly unpleasant. Free parking would be great.

No real special needs at all, just looking to have a great time.

We’ll be renting a car, so driving won’t be an issue and we’re both long-haul commuters at home.

Anyway, I’d love some tips or hints or suggestions about anything or everything related to the trip. We’re really looking forward to it and it’s just hard to pick between all the places out there.

Thanks!

Ralph

What are the best areas (safe) to stay in?

Lauren R asked:

Los Angeles (3 nights), Houston (2 nights), Chicago (3 nights), Boston (4 nights), New York (5 nights) and Washington DC (3 nights)?

There are 5 of us. We want reasonably priced very safe accomodation which is still central enough if possible.

What areas in the different places are safe and what places should we avoid?
We will be staying in cheaper hotels or motels but THEY MUST BE SAFE! We are from Australia. Going to America in July. Thanks, please be specific about each of the places. We don’t know where to stay!
Thanks songbird. I’ve emailed you about locations.

Cheap motels in windsor?

Bitterly Sweet asked:

I have searched yahoo farechase or whatever it is for motels in windsor, canada, and the lowest price i’ve gotten is 63 USD. Is there some around the windsor casino that are cheaper, that may not be showing up on the search? if you know of an extremely cheap motel (but not too extremely crappy) please let me know the name of it. I’m only looking to spend one night there, but would like it walking distance to the windsor casino.
Thank you for any help in advance!
